Prepping for the show

Students involved with KSA (Kawananakoa Student Association) help get ready for the annual school talent show. This year the talent show will be on Friday, September 16th. There will be singers, an ukulele player, piano player, and guitarist among the performers. The show usually ends with a performance from the Kawananakoa Student Association officers and representatives.

Kawananakoa student video nominated for award

"Better Food Photography," a video created by Kawananakoa Middle School students Samantha Diaz, Amber Kim, Kevin Liu, and Carmen Yim was nominated for the Best Franchise Piece Award for Season One of Hiki No. A franchise piece is a short video, about 1 to 2 minutes, giving a piece of information or a "how to" type of story. Kawananakoa's video was chosen by industry professionals as one of the best pieces produced in the first season of Hiki No. This video first premired on April 18, 2011.

KMS Art Teacher has his own show!




Mr. Tambio is not only an art teacher but an artist himself. His work will be on display in Hotel Renew in Waikiki. An interview with Flux Hawaii magazine tells more about him and his art.

No school on Monday

Monday, September 5, 2001 is Labor Day. There will be no school this day. School will be back on Tuesday the 6th. The class rotation for Tuesday is: Periods 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6.

Free Dress Day

Students were able to leave their school uniforms at home Friday. A free dress day was declared as a reward for high participation in Kawananakoa Middle School's library book fair during the week of  August 22. Some students really seized the opportunity and even were dressed better than they usually are with the uniform.
